Tourist arrivals up 53% in Dubrovnik so far in 2019

2 April 2019 – Tourism in Dubrovnik on Croatia’s southern coast is up a massive 53% so far this year, the Ministry of Tourism has revealed on Tuesday.
According to data from the eVisitor system, which excluded nautical data, from 1 – 31 March 2019 a total of 55,894 tourists stayed in Dubrovnik. This was 42% more than in March 2018. 
The visitors created 98,476 overnight stays, which was 2% more than the same month last year. In March, most guests to Dubrovnik arrived from Germany, Croatia, USA, Bosnia and Herzegovina, UK, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Albania and Italy. 
Since the start of 2019, Dubrovnik has welcomed 101,325 tourists, which is 53% more than in the same period last year. A total of 186,413 overnight stays have been recorded, which is 12% more than in the same period in 2018 which was a record year for Croatian tourism. 
Out of the total number of visitors to visit the city in 2019, 90,729 stayed in hotel accommodation, which is a rise of 67% from last year. 7,054 guests stayed in private accommodation.

The growth in the number of tourists so far in 2019 has been attributed to the increase in direct flights to the city over the winter. There were direct flights from seven European destinations – Frankfurt, London, Istanbul, Madrid, Barcelona, Rim and Warsaw. 
There were also charters from Scandinavia and Germany operating during that period and which will bring over 30,000 tourists to Dubrovnik in May.
